Bus Operators (Full- and Part-Time Positions)

Assistant Director of Operations (Full-Time Position)

The Assistant Director of Operations manages the structure, systems and procedures to ensure all federal and state mandates are met both short and long term. Must perform and supervise a wide variety of duties to ensure compliance with the highest safety and customer standards. Currently oversees a staff of 6 in addition to 35 drivers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides leadership in employee relations issues, motivates staff, and is responsible for successful employee recruiting in a challenging labor market. Expected to be able to evaluate each subordinate’s strengths and weaknesses and be able to enable the team to work together to get all of the tasks accomplished. Must have experience in demand response services including scheduling software. Looking for a self starter that can play an integral role in expanding transit services. Ensure that employees are up to date on all required training. Investigates and follows up on all customer service concerns as well as other operational issues.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Requires an AA/AS Degree (BA/BS desirable) from an accredited two-year college or university with five years of progressively responsible supervision and/or management experience (transit experience desirable), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to multi-task daily; Proficient with MS Office Suite; Ability to learn new technology; Excellent phone and people skills; High level of written and oral communication skills; Must be organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines; Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment and high ethical standards.

Applicant must be available to work 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts. Must have or obtain a South Carolina CDL, with B/P endorsements within 180 days of hire.

Dispatcher (Full-Time Position)

Under the general supervision of the Mobility Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling rides for passengers via computer scheduling system and the dispatching of vehicle operators and equipment to provide transportation services and customer service support for agencies and clients. This position works closely with Palmetto Breeze to ensure passenger’s transportation needs. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating with the public for same day transportation services; entering same day transportation changes (no shows, cancellations, add-ons etc.) into log; general clerical duties (pay-roll entry, ridership counts) communicating with vehicle operators regarding directional concerns, emergencies, callouts, and vehicle problems; identifying incidents and violations in the Dispatcher Log. The Dispatcher serves as an important public-relations representative. As such his or her priorities are to ensure that safe, reliable, on time and professional transit services are provided to the customer.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a high school diploma or general equivalent diploma (GED). An Associates degree in computer technology is preferred. Knowledge of local area preferred. One to three years working in a fast-paced environment such as customer service, transportation dispatching or scheduling; experience in customer service and performing automated scheduling is a plus; one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Maintenance Technician (Full-Time Position)

Palmetto Breeze is currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician.

 

MINIMUM APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and minimum 3-5 years of diesel maintenance and diagnostics experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or have ability to obtain CDL-Class B Permit within 90 days

  • Possess basic computer skills

  • Possess stable and verifiable work history, with exceptional record of attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and stand for long periods of time on concrete surfaces. Ability to perform lifting tasks up to 75 lbs.

  • Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and back screen, drug screen, and complete a background check

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Regular and predictable performance of essential job functions.

  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and diagnose fleet vehicle.

  • Perform fleet vehicle inspections, overhauls, major and minor repairs, as well as monitoring/completing on-going regular scheduled maintenance.

  • Ensure fleet vehicles are in safe, working order when placed in service, and free of mechanical defects.

  • Respond to emergency road-calls and troubleshoot in the field.

  • Utilize effective time management skills in performing and completing assigned work orders.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and clean work area.

  • Other related duties as assigned.
