Bus Operators (Full- and Part-Time Positions)

Office Administrator (Full-Time Position)

Palmetto Breeze is hiring a Full-time Office Administrator based in Bluffton. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting visitors, daily mail distribution, ordering office supplies, administering the Daufuskie Island Ferry ID card program, handling board related materials, and basic clerical/receptionist duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as receptionist and first point of contact for all visitors.

  • Performs clerical duties including typing, filing, and completion of simple forms.

  • Completes Complaint, Compliment & Suggestion Forms from the public; logs and distributes as required.

  • Distributes office supplies, monitors office supply inventory, and orders supplies as needed.

  • Assists Daufuskie Island residents and visitors with evaluation of resident status, Ferry ID Passes and payments.

  • Prints, sells, distributes and reconciles passenger tickets and ticket books. Maintains and inventories ticket sales records.

  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail and makes daily bank and post office runs.

  • Serves as a phone backup for Dispatch as needed for messages and general passenger information.

  • Acts as a backup to the fare box revenue counters.

  • Works in the Hurricane Call Centers during emergency evacuation situations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Administration.

Maintenance Administrator (Full-Time Position)

Palmetto Breeze is looking for a Full-time Maintenance Administrator who will support public transit operations throughout our five county region. The incumbent will be based at our maintenance facility in Bluffton, SC.

We are looking for candidates who can:

  • Stock, inventory, and distribute automotive parts and related materials to vehicle maintenance technicians.

  • Use computer software to locate parts and material.

  • Reconcile storeroom inventory and ensures that stock levels, invoices, and receipts are maintained accurately.

  • Manage the work order process for a small maintenance shop.

If you have the following skillset, then we would love to hear from you:

  • 2-3 years of work experience in maintenance administration of a similar field.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in the work environment.

  • Strong attention to details as well as ability to communicate effectively.

  • Computer literate in all MS Office products.

  • A valid driver's license and at least a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Be able to move items up to 70 pounds.

Pay is negotiable between $16.00 - $18.00 per hour based on qualifications. Full-time employees are eligible for great state benefits. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Maintenance Technician (Full-Time Position)

Palmetto Breeze is currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician.

 

MINIMUM APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and minimum 3-5 years of diesel maintenance and diagnostics experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or have ability to obtain CDL-Class B Permit within 90 days

  • Possess basic computer skills

  • Possess stable and verifiable work history, with exceptional record of attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and stand for long periods of time on concrete surfaces. Ability to perform lifting tasks up to 75 lbs.

  • Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and back screen, drug screen, and complete a background check

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Regular and predictable performance of essential job functions.

  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and diagnose fleet vehicle.

  • Perform fleet vehicle inspections, overhauls, major and minor repairs, as well as monitoring/completing on-going regular scheduled maintenance.

  • Ensure fleet vehicles are in safe, working order when placed in service, and free of mechanical defects.

  • Respond to emergency road-calls and troubleshoot in the field.

  • Utilize effective time management skills in performing and completing assigned work orders.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and clean work area.

  • Other related duties as assigned.
